X-rays
X-rays are essential to see potential problems of the teeth, bones, and tissues, and to provide the best dental treatment. Radiological advancements have made digital technology widespread in the dental community. Digital x-rays are faster, more clear, and safer for patients with up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays. Dr. Tom B. Curtis offers state-of-the-art digital x-rays in his office in West Linn, Oregon.
Digital x-rays are faster and easier than film x-rays. The bite plate needed to obtain the intraoral views is less bulky than needed for conventional films, making the patient more comfortable. Digital views are available for viewing immediately and are extremely clear. If repeat views are needed, adjustments are fast and easy. Obtaining a diagnosis takes less time.
Digital images are easy to enlarge for closer examination of problem areas. Previous digital images are available immediately and easy to send to other medical facilities if needed.
Regular dental x-rays are obtained once a year to make sure there are no potential problems beneath the gum line. Panoramic and bite-wing x-rays are done annually. If having a problem with a single tooth, a periapical x-ray may be taken to see the entire tooth from the bottom of the root to the top of the crown.
